The
following bills from our legislative agenda have been introduced. You
may track the progress of these bills or view them in their entirety by

from our web page and going to bill status or tracking. You can also
obtain your legislators contact information from this location. It
would be important to send them an email with your thoughts concerning
our issues.
Plan B Retirement Bill- (SB285)(HB not yet assigned) Would
lower the normal retirement age to 50 with 25 years of service or age 52
with 20 years of service. Would eliminate any reduction in the
disability for injuries occurring on the job and to increase the limit
on scholarship money available to surviving dependent children.
On-Call- (SB250)(HB4347) Would compensate Troopers for off-duty time
when they are required to be on standby to be called back to work.
Leave Donation- (SB 529)(HB4369) Would allow the West Virginia Troopers Association to establish a
leave donation program. This would allow the
membership to donate annual leave time to the
Association to be utilized by the President or
designee.
Pay Bill- (SB537)(HB4371) Would provide a pay raise to the State
Police which would include a three year package.
Education - (HB4313)Would provide members of
the State Police to receive tuition exemption for college education.
This would provide an opportunity for the schools to have trained law
enforcement officers within the classrooms.
As a reminder the LEAD ceremony will be held on
February 25, 2008, at 1230 hours, to be held at the Capitol.
