Board of Directors, Troop 1 Representative
On October 17th, 2006 I attended the monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the West Virginia Troopers Association. The Board did NOT have a quorum for this meeting, however, several items were addressed.
The Troopers Association is planning on addressing the following at the 2007 Legislative session:
1. Plan B improvement of retirement age 55 to 50.
2. Compensation for Trooper “on call” time asking for minimum wage compensation for hours spent on restriction for emergency on call status.
3. Locality pay raise issues regarding a compensation for certain areas of the state where the cost of living is significantly higher.
4. Support for leave donation for the President of the Association.
The Board was informed that the Law Firm of Masters and Taylor has requested mediation on the Plan B
retirement for the 42nd - 45th cadet classes. If this mediation is not granted, then the law suit will be filed in Kanawha County Circuit Court. The filing of the suit could come at any time.
The location of the 2007 Troopers Association Conference has not been set as of this date. The location of the conference will be decided upon shortly.
The membership of the Troopers Association voted overwhelmingly in support of the raise in membership dues.
Terry Campbell has stocked up on Association items available for purchase. If in Charleston, stop in and check out the huge inventory in time for Christmas.
If you have a concern or comment, please contact me at any time at the Paden City Detachment or on my home or cell phone.
