WVTA CIVILIAN OF THE YEAR CRITERIA

A. This award recognizes any civilian member of the WVTA who demonstrates outstanding overall performance during a specified year (January to January).

B. Nominations must be submitted using the official WVTA nomination form. Nominations can be made by anyone with direct knowledge of the nominee’s performance (e.g., supervisor, prosecuting attorney).

C. An award selection committee will consist of the WVTA Executive Board and Board of Directors.

D. The award selection committee will review all nominations and score each applicant as follows:

  • 1. Each committee member will rank nominees from first to last in a subjective manner. Rankings will be scored in reverse order (e.g., with 20 nominees: 1st place = 20 points, 2nd = 19 points, etc.).
  • 2. Point tally will be realized by a first place vote receiving the worth of the total number of nominations being received (i.e., 20 candidates = 20 points for 1st place – 19 points for 2nd place, etc.).

E. The Civilian of the Year will be announced and honored at the WVTA Annual Conference. If the conference is not held, the award will be presented by an alternate method.

F. The Civilian of the Year will receive:

  • 1. $1,500
  • 2. WVTA Civilian of the Year Plaque

This name plate will be worn on all appropriate WVSP uniforms.

CIVILIAN OF THE YEAR ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS

A. Nominees who rank in second and third place will receive a Civilian of the Year Achievement Award.

B. Ties will not be broken. In the case of a tie for third place, the individual with the most first-place votes (then second-place votes, etc.) will be awarded.

C. Each recipient of the Achievement Award will receive:

  • 1. $250
  • 2. WVTA Certificate of Achievement

IMPORTANT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
